DIO2 belongs to the iodothyronine deiodinase family and is responsible for the deiodination of T4 (3,5,3',5'-tetraiodothyronine) into T3 (3,5,3'-triiodothyronine). It is essential for providing the brain with appropriate levels of T3 during the critical period of development. DIO2 is expressed in heart, skeletal muscle, placenta, fetal brain and several regions of the adult brain. There are two named isoforms. SWISS: Q92813 Gene ID: 1734 脱碘酶2泛称Ⅱ型碘甲腺氨酸脱碘酶脱碘，是调节甲状腺激素生物活性的特别方式。脱碘酶可加速T4转化为T3，引起甲状腺激素及生长激素分泌减少，影响一些机体生物学的改变。 DIO2主要表达在中枢神经系统、垂体前叶腺体、棕色脂肪组织和胎盘内。其他组织中也有一定量的分布：心肌和骨胳肌、肝、肾、中枢神经系统、 脑，皮肤，胎盘等。 |
