LRP1B is a putative tumor suppressor and a member of the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptor family. The LDL receptor family have roles related to clearance of extracellular ligand and are proposed to be involved in extracellular signal transduction. silencing and down-expression of LRP1B as been observed in renal cell carcinoma and thyroid cancer.
