ZNF8 is a 575 amino acid protein that belongs to the Krüppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family and contains seven C2H2-type zinc fingers and a KRAB domain. Localizing to the nucleus and ubiquitously expressed, ZNF8 is thought to play a role in transcriptional regulation and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 19q13.43. Function: May be involved in transcriptional regulation. Subcellular Location: Nucleus. Tissue Specificity: Ubiquitously present in many human cell lines of different embryological derivation. Post-translational modifications: Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR. Similarity: Belongs to the krueppel C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family. Contains 7 C2H2-type zinc fingers.
