Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a major cause of respiratory illness in young children. RSV infection produces a variety of signs and symptoms involving different areas of the respiratory tract, from the nose to the lungs. RSV is a negative sense, enveloped RNA virus. The virion is variable in shape and size with average diameter of between 120 and 300 nm. The 63 kD RSV fusion protein of the RSS 2 strain (subtype A) directs fusion of viral and cellular membranes, results in viral penetration, and can direct fusion of infected cells with adjoining cells, resulting in the formation of syncytia or multi nucleated giant cells. Function: Attaches the virion to the host cell membrane by interacting with heparan sulfate, initiating the infection. Interacts with host CX3CR1, the receptor for the CX3C chemokine fractalkine, to modulate the immune response and facilitate infection. Unlike the other paramyxovirus attachment proteins, lacks both neuraminidase and hemagglutinating activities. Secreted glycoprotein G helps RSV escape antibody-dependent restriction of replication by acting as an antigen decoy and by modulating the activity of leukocytes bearing Fcgamma receptors. Subunit: Homooligomer. Interacts (via N-terminus) with protein M. Interacts with protein F; this interaction occurs on the surface of infected cells. Interacts with protein SH. Interacts with host CX3CR1; this interaction modulates host immune response. Subcellular Location: Virion membrane. Host cell surface. Isoform Secreted glycoprotein G: Secreted. Post-translational modifications: May carry 40-80 separate O-linked carbohydrate chains distributed among the 91 serine and threonine residues. Palmitoylated. 呼吸道合胞病毒引起的急性呼吸道传染病,该病毒能使病变细胞融合成多核巨细胞,故称此名。 呼吸道合胞病毒是一种RNA病毒,属副粘液病毒科。该病经空气飞沫和密切接触传播。多见于新生儿和6 个月以内的婴儿。潜伏期3~7日。婴幼儿症状较重,可有高热、鼻炎、咽炎及喉炎,以后表现为细支气管炎及肺炎。少数病儿可并发中耳炎、胸膜炎及心肌炎等。成人和年长儿童感染后,主要表现为上呼吸道感染。 |
